General Information:

The Connecticut Family Foundation (“the Foundation”) offers merit-based scholarships to support individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to strengthening families and communities.

The Foundation is a private, independent nonprofit organization and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Airforce, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, or any federal agency.

Eligibility:

Scholarships are awarded through a competitive, merit-based selection process. Eligibility criteria are outlined in each specific scholarship description. Unless otherwise stated, scholarships are open to a broad class of applicants, which may include students, cadets, or service members, provided they meet the stated requirements.

Selection Process:

All applications are evaluated based on objective criteria, which may include academic achievement, leadership, character, community involvement, and essay responses. The Foundation’s President and Founder is recused from all applicant evaluation and selection decisions. Selections are made through an independent review committee made up of military and civilians personnel.

No Affiliation or Endorsement:

Participation in this scholarship program does not imply endorsement by any government entity. Applicants who are members of the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Airforce, including cadets, apply in their personal capacity and not in an official role.

Federal Ethics Compliance:

Applicants who are federal employees, including active-duty service members and cadets, are solely responsible for complying with all applicable federal ethics regulations, including 5 CFR Part 2635 and any applicable Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Airforce/U.S. Coast Guard policies. Applicants may be required to seek guidance, disclosure, or approval from their chain of command or ethics office prior to accepting any award. The Foundation assumes no responsibility for an applicant’s compliance with such requirements.

Nature of Award:

Scholarships are awarded as merit-based financial assistance and are not intended as compensation for services, influence, or official actions. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection or receipt of any scholarship. The Foundation reserves full discretion in determining recipients. Awards are granted without expectation of favor or return benefit and are not contingent upon the recipient’s official duties or position. Awards may be subject to applicable tax laws.

Use and Distribution of Funds:

Recipients agree to use awarded funds for legitimate educational, professional, or personal development expenses, as outlined in the scholarship description. The Foundation does not monitor or control the specific use of funds and is not responsible for how funds are ultimately used. Scholarship funds will be distributed in a manner determined by the Foundation, which may include direct payment to the recipient or a third party. Timing of distribution is not guaranteed.

Right to Modify or Cancel:

The Foundation reserves the right to modify eligibility criteria, adjust award amounts, or cancel or suspend a scholarship program at any time, at its sole discretion. The Foundation reserves the right to verify any information provided in an application. Any false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in disqualification or revocation of an award.

Limitation of Liability:

By applying, applicants agree that the Connecticut Family Foundation shall not be liable for any decisions made by third parties, including government agencies, any tax obligations incurred by recipients, or any consequences related to an applicant’s failure to comply with applicable laws or regulations. The Foundation does not provide tax advice.
